AS ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT, I feel like this year is one of transition and reset for the UFRCA.  Having been away from the river and our cottages we're hoping you are asking the question "what does the Association do and how can I help?"

There are presently only four of us on the board, a skeleton Executive, and we have carried the Association over the last couple of years as we all feel it is an important part of the river. But now we need each of you to consider joining our board or being a Committee Member.  There is a lot that has been done over the years by members of this Association but it takes people willing to give a little of their time.  Some positions require a little more and so the question is what can you give?

Currently the following Committee Chair positions are all open: Newsletter, Membership, Communications/Website, Social, Dokis Liaison, Municipal Liaison/Emergency Services, History, Environment and Park/MNRF.

When I joined the Association board the first time, I took over the Environment portfolio.  I continued the water testing on the river and I joined the French River Stewardship Council on the Association’s behalf and attended monthly meetings throughout the year near Alban.  I learned so much about the river and people and organizations that work towards the good of the river.  I brought back information and reports to the AGM to share about our own water flow and its health, one of those things being the Blue-green Algae blooms.  It seemed to me at the time that there was lots going on within the Association and if people were interested they could contribute as much as they wanted.

WE NEED PEOPLE TO ENGAGE IN THE ASSOCIATION OR IT WILL NOT CONTINUE.  This has been the consistent message over the last few years. This board was new as of the last scheduled AGM, but with Covid we have just held the space.  So where do we go from here?  It’s up to you – the members. The AGM will take place Sunday, July 31, 2022 this year, so again, please come with ideas and a willingness to contribute.  The location will be posted soon.

THANK YOU – WE WILL LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON THE RIVER!!
